Hotel Review – The Roosevelt in Seattle

Hotel Review - The Roosevelt in Seattle 1

The Roosevelt Hotel in downtown Seattle is a classic retreat in the heart of the city. My husband and I recently enjoyed our couple getaway at this stately hotel, as part of the Ultimate Shopping Package.

First off, the location is amazing. The Roosevelt is located on the corner of 7th and Pine. It’s across the street from the Convention Center and Pacific Place. It’s also near Nordstrom, City Centre, and Macy’s. It’s easy walking distance to Westlake Center. The Roosevelt is surrounded by restaurants and shops of every variety. True to Seattle, it is within one mile of at least 8 Starbucks. It really is in the heart of Downtown Seattle.

One thing I love about older hotels is they aren’t all exactly the same. Each room is unique. During our stay, we had a deluxe king room, #1103. I am almost sure other rooms in this same category have different layouts. Ours was nearly a suite…suite-ette? Yeah, I think that’s what I’ll call it.
Upon entering, you’ll notice a wet bar to the right. It has a small sink with only cold water, a counter top and the coffee amenities. To the right of that is the living area. There was a sofa that folded out to a sleeper, complete with sheets and blankets. There was a coffee table, a small writing desk with chair, an end table and an armchair. When the bed was folded out, it was a bit cramped, but when it was folded up, there was plenty of room.

To the left of the entrance is the bedroom. We had a lovely king bed with nice sheets and a duvet (I’m not a fan of hotel bedspreads) on tons of wonderful pillows. The bedroom was sectioned off from the living room by two louvered doors and a wall. The only thing that made this room less of a suite was a large space in the wall so the flat screen tv could pivot to display either in the living room or the bedroom. This is actually a really cool feature if you aren’t looking for total privacy between sections. All the windows actually open, which is unheard of these days! They had heavy black out curtains so it was easy to sleep. We did hear sirens twice, but both were early in the evening, so it didn’t interrupt our sleep.

The bathroom is another feature of love in old hotels. In this case, the bathroom held a deep soaking tub including a small packet of bath salts. The tub, the sink and toilet were all porcelain, not plastic like so many are today. The faucets are up-to-date, so everything was in working order with the look of old world charm.
The closet had plenty of hangers, an iron and ironing board and a hair dryer. The was no fridge or microwave, which I’m finding to be a more common occurrence. They may have been available upon request, but we didn’t need one.
The hotel boasts views of the city, but in reality, most of the downtown core is swamped with high rises. Your view will likely be of other buildings. Perhaps that’s a “city view?”

The amenities are fairly standard: free wifi, (one area on the website said there was a charge, but it was complementary when we were there), smoke free, HD flat screen TVs, coffee maker, clock radio, bathrobes and slippers, etc. In addition to these, the Roosevelt Hotel also has room service from Von’s RoastHouse, a fitness room, and dry cleaning/laundry services. The Roosevelt Hotel also offers Whirlpool Suites and the Roosevelt Suite. (PS-Hotel Roosevelt, I would be more than happy to review either of these for you! Hint hint!)

The valet parking is $26 and includes in and out privileges. There is also self-parking nearby. If you check out the Roosevelt Hotel website, they often have specials that include parking. The specials are a little tricky to find, so be sure to follow this link for your stay at the Roosevelt.

Our stay at the Roosevelt was top-notch. I would highly recommend this hotel to friends. It’s charming with an unbeatable location. Be sure to check their website since they often run great promotions. We took advantage of the Ultimate Shopping Package during our Couple Getaway.
