Anabella Hotel in Anaheim/Disneyland – Hotel Review

There are a zillion hotels near Disneyland in Anaheim and a billion different opinions about which one you should stay in. Here’s my 2 cents on one of the fantastic Anaheim hotels near Disneyland. We stayed at the Anabella Hotel in Anaheim, and I would recommend it to anyone! Please note, this is the only Disneyland area hotel I’ve stayed in, but I was very pleased with the Anabella Hotel. First off, the location of the Anabella is great. Many hotels say they are within walking distance to … [Read more...]

How NOT to Make a Grand Entrance – Funny Travel Stories

To kick off my series of Funny travel stories, I thought I would first poke fun at myself…well, my sister and myself. My mom, my sister, a family friend and I went to LA to see a taping of The Price is Right. We were supposed to see a taping of Dr. Phil, but they weren’t taping the particular day we were in town. That’s another story… Anyhow, we were a group of country bumpkins setting foot in the Beverly Hilton. We felt a little out of sorts, but we were very excited to be in … [Read more...]

Don’t Forget These 10 Items on Your Romantic Getaways

There are zillions of sites and checklists to help you pack, but for romantic getaways, you might consider these extras: 1)      iPod plus decent speakers-Nowadays, this is super simple. When my husband and I first got married, it took some serious effort…packing CDs, a CD player and some computer speakers we took from home. Now, you just need an iPod or other MP3 player and you can often forgo the speakers. 2)      Candles-Ignite your getaway with candles. Nothing sets the mood quite like … [Read more...]

What’s On Your Bucket List?

Frequently, when I check out other travel blogger’s posts, my comments have something to do with adding that destination to my bucket list. A bucket list is basically a list of things you want to do before you die. The term was made popular in the 2007 movie by the same name. My bucket list includes: a 3 to 6 month trip with my husband and two girls, maybe biking around Scotland or something, a chartered sailboat trip in the Caribbean, walking through the Holy Land, completing an … [Read more...]

One of my favorite Daily Deal sites is Living Social. Not only do they offer great deals every day, specific to your location, they have an awesome “escapes” section with only travel deals…some local, some not. A recent example in my area is a two night Night Stay for Two in a Hot Tub Room at the Camano Island Inn including breakfast for two each morning and a $50 Spa or Dining Credit (Good for One-Hour Hot Stone Massage, Facial, or Five-Course Candlelit Dinner). That’s 41% off!  They also … [Read more...]

Customer Service Secrets from Hotel Deca

My husband and I had a hotel stay that wasn’t up to par. However, it was followed by an excellent stay that was beyond our expectations. The hotel in question has earned our business for life! You see, we purchased an overnight hotel stay at  Hotel Deca via bloomspot, a daily deal site. When we arrived, we noticed lots and lots of purple and green. The UW Huskies were playing their final home game against the Oregon Ducks. This hotel was filled to capacity with football fans. When we … [Read more...]

We could see the Space Needle, Lake Washington, Lake Union, Gas Works Park, University of Washington, the 520 bridge, and the Olympics, the Cascades and more. Simply amazing! The Roosevelt Hotel in downtown Seattle is a classic retreat in the heart of the city. My husband and I recently enjoyed our couple getaway at this stately hotel, as part of the Ultimate Shopping Package. First off, the location is amazing. The Roosevelt is located on the corner of 7th and Pine. It’s across the street from the Convention Center and Pacific Place. It’s also near Nordstrom, City Centre, and Macy’s. It’s easy walking distance to Westlake Center. The Roosevelt is surrounded by … [Read more...]
