Scottsdale, located in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona offers plenty of old world and old west charm along with modern amenities to travelers. With abundant sunny days and clear star filled nights, it has something for both the adventurous and romantic couples and families. No wonder than that over five million tourists put this exciting place on their traveling itinerary. While there are dozens of things to do in Scottsdale, Arizona according to each couple or family’s tastes, here are five of the major activities you may indulge in while on your visit.

Visiting Old Town Scottsdale is an amazing experience where history and good food meld together into one fabulous time. A walking tour winds through downtown Scottsdale and is full of educational, entertaining stories of the Old West heritage of the town. There are demonstrations of historical clothing and cooking. The three-hour tour’s best feature is that guests get to sample the food of many of the best restaurants in Scottsdale. This is the best attraction in Scottsdale, and it is sure to keep the whole family happy.

 

2. Heard North

In order to experience some of the Southwest’s rich Native American cultural heritage, a visit to Heard North can be very enjoyable and informative. The museum has ever-changing displays of American Indian art, and there is a lovely café as well as a gift store selling Native American jewelry and art. The museum often has special exhibits and guest speakers and it also has kids’ galleries and programs. A trip to Scottsdale is not complete without a visit to Heard North. The museum is open from 10-5 everyday but Sunday, when it is open from 11-5.

 

3. Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts

This is a premier performance venue in Scottsdale. There are many different kinds of performances held here with a little something for everyone. There are musical performances ranging from rock to classical to jazz to world. Comedy shows are regularly held. There are many dance troupes from around the world that have performed here. Ballets and symphonies are frequent occurrences. Many Broadway shows that are touring make a stop here at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts.

 

4. CrackerJax

 

A visit to CrackerJax can be a reward for kids that sit quietly through a symphony at the Scottsdale Center for Performing Arts, or it can be a fun trip anytime. This 28-acre fun center has enough fun packed in it to keep everybody happy. There are three miniature golf courses, a driving range, batting cages, bumper boats, go karts, a bungee dome, a huge arcade, volleyball and water wars. There is also a great restaurant here to enjoy after working up an appetite playing all the fun games at CrackerJax.

 

5. Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art

This amazing art museum is not the best place for those with young children, but older children and adults will truly enjoy a trip here. Full of vibrant, engaging art, the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art is one of the premier art museums in the Southwest. There are five galleries to wander through as well as a beautiful outdoor sculpture garden. The museum is closed on Mondays, open from 10-5 Tuesday and Wednesday, 10-8 on Thursday, 10-5 Friday and Saturday and 12-5 on Sunday.
